Thinking is the Target Part 2 of 3
The need to know the capital of Florida died when my phone learned the answer. Rather, the students of tomorrow need to be able to think creatively, they will need to learn on their own, adapt to new challenges and innovate on-the-fly. (Trevor M. "My Favorite Quotes about Education".) This is an interesting insight, especially since it came from a high school student! But is he right? And if he is correct, what should we be teaching? How should we be equipping students to "act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with...God" and to positively influence society in an increasingly technological world? In this second session of the Teaching in a Connected World series by Dr. Kevin Washburn, we'll consider the goals and outcomes of teaching in a connected world. The Teaching in a Connected World series includes: Education in the Midst of Revolution (3 Parts), Thinking is the Target (3 Parts), Are our Means and Mission Mismatched? (3 Parts), Coaching: Teaching's New (or Coming) Metaphor (2 Parts).
