Leadership Academy 2012 Closing Challenge: Practice Session 4 of 4
Dr. James K.A. Smith
In his final session from the 2012 Leadership Academy, Dr. James Smith examines Colossians 3: 12-17 from the framework of putting on virtue, being clothed with Christ, through the practice of worship. Extending Paul's metaphor of getting dressed, Dr. Smith reminds his audience that as getting dressed requires a child to learn through practice, imitation and apprenticeship, the development of virtue requires the same. Through Christian practices, and specifically the practice of worship, we are met by God and his Spirit works in us to develop our virtue. Christian education then, is an extension of the church, an extension of the places that God meets us and works through his Spirit to develop virtue in his children.
