Education in the Midst of Revolution Part 1 of 3
Dr. Kevin Washburn
While pondering the American Revolution, de Tocqueville wrote, "I have not even intended to judge whether this social revolution, which I believe to be irresistible, is advantageous or disastrous for mankind. I have acknowledged that this revolution is already accomplished or about to be so..." Today's schools seem equally uncertain about technology. Are changes in technology advantageous or disastrous for learning? What are the implications for schools, teachers, and educational leaders? What do we need to be considering while teaching during such a revolution? In this first session of the Teaching in a Connected World series by Dr. Kevin Washburn, we'll examine the revolution of teaching in a connected world. The Teaching in a Connected World series includes: Education in the Midst of Revolution (3 Parts), Thinking is the Target (3 Parts), Are our Means and Mission Mismatched? (3 Parts), Coaching: Teaching's New (or Coming) Metaphor (2 Parts).
