Walk a Mile in Students' Shoes: Differentiating Between Low Motivation, Curriculum Casualties, and Learning Disabilities

Kristin is the Executive Director for the National Institute for Learning Development (NILD). NILD trains educators and implements research-based, best-practice interventions to bring lasting change for struggling learners. She presents seminars and workshops nationally and internationally for parents and educators on topics related to learning disabilities, dyslexia, and cognitive development. Through Kristin's ACSI NEXUS 2015 presentation, you will learn to describe three phases of the learning process and understand how they blend together in the act of thinking and learning. You will also differentiate between classroom behavioral problems, low motivation and the hallmark signs of learning disabilities, and identify classroom behaviors related to vulnerable perceptual skills and how they contribute to variability in academic performance and learning.
