Understanding learning enables us to select and sequence activities that promote deep learning. These decisions depend, in part, on the type of subject matter we're teaching. We'll explore these subject matter types, their influence on designing effective teaching, and how a trio of tools emerges when subject matter types and learning's core processes are blended. Examples will illustrate the application of these tools to designing effective teaching.
