Professional Development Frameworks and Best Practices

A literature synthesis by Swaner (2016) revealed that professional development (PD) in Christian schools often falls short of national standards. Further, there is a lack of clarity around what constitutes best practice in PD for Christian educators and leaders, with the result that PD is often haphazard. This session will help school leaders to be more intentional in designing PD experiences that reflect best practices, by first briefly presenting the research findings, and then engaging participants in a series of guided reflection and group discussion activities to help them assess their current practices and strategize to improve upon them.
