Which biblical narrative has had a powerful impact on your life? What aspect of that narrative—plot, characters, setting, or design patterns—made it especially meaningful to you?
The narrative that has affected me most is the life of Christ. Jesus, who was God, came to earth, was born of a virgin in Bethlehem, called the Twelve Disciples, performed miracles, healings and teachings, died on the cross for our sins, rose again from the grave, and ascended into Heaven.
I really like the story of the miracle in Mark 4:35-41 where Jesus calmed the winds and waves, not only proving his Deity, but more importantly for me, showing that if we follow Him into a figurative boat and go to sea, as long as we are in the boat with Jesus, in his presence, in his will - being with Him, he will care for our safety and all of our other human needs. I dobelieve that this truly happened, but for me I like this story somewhat as a parable. "Did God lead me to be in this boat on these rough waters? If so, then he will keep me in the storm and also calm the storm in His time."
The story of the death and resurrection of Jesus has had a profound impact on me. Not only for my salvation, but learning about the characters within that story. Learning about the disciples has allowed me to connect with that story in a way that I couldn't otherwise. We are human and make mistakes so it is hard to fathom His love for us despite our repeated disobedience. Seeing His love and care for his disciples despite their flaws (Peter denied Him 3 times!) helps me to better understand and accept His love for me.
Joseph’s story really hits me. He goes through tough stuff but ends up blessing a lot of people. His faith and forgiveness stand out, and it reminds me that things can work out even when it’s hard.
The Biblical narrative that has the most impact is Christ death and resurrection.
The narrative of the Book of Ruth made a powerful impact on my life. I lost my brother at a young age and experienced deep sadness and bitterness. Reading her redemption that God was working through her for a bigger plan really hit me. While I may not see His plan as it is too big, I take comfort in know He has a plan and that my brother's death was no surprise to Him.
