God's word has impacted me personally. When I was first saved I started reading God's word aas a self help book instead of it as an entire book. God thankfully showed me that His bible is to show me Himself and the meta narrative of Christ. When my perspective changed, it was transformational in allowing growth in the Lord.
God's word has impacted me personally through the most important way of bringing me to salvation. However, it has also impacted me in so many ways throughout my life, in various seasons of life I go through, to be an encouragement to me and a constant reminder that God is always there for me. It also has been impactful in my teaching too as I'm able to share my own personal experiences of how God's word has changed my life.
God's world, Bible verses, quotes, conversations I have had during Bible Studies, and sermons I have heard help me in class. I like to share with the students my personal experience and how God had "talked" and manifested in my existence.
At the beginning of my walk with Christ I was reading the Bible like a regular book. I didn't go in with an expectation of being transformed in anyway. I just wanted to read it because I was always scared of it. Everyone who I knew didn't read their Bible. At home, my mom had an open Bible on Psalms 91 for "protection", but I didn't even know what that meant or why she would do that. I don't think she even knew why she did that. She didn't know the word of God either. She knew somethings, but had not really read it for herself.
I woke up one day from a dream and in the dream I heard the name Daniel. I immediately knew to go the Bible and read. That changed my view of the Bible. I understood that God really did inspire the word and that it was important for me to study it. I learned a lot by reading it, but I understood and learned more about God after I studied it.
In my life, in my career, I have found the Scriptures to be an important part of every aspect of what I do. How I start my day, how I begin my lessons, and how I end my lessons all incorporate the Word of God. I believe that it is important to keep the Word close to be a better teacher for my students and continue to deepen my relationship with God.
God has impacted my life first through salvation, but then through his daily involvement and guidance in my life.
Being fortunate and blessed to grow up in a Christian family and solid church, I can't remember not knowing the Bible - at the applicable age level. As I've grown and matured, the Bible has taken on multiple roles. It's been mere facts with decent life application as a Bible Bowl participant. It's been a rich history book, one of my favorite classroom subjects. It's been a rule book, fitting to my personality. It's been an encouragement - so many "favorites". But in recent years, I've relied on its comfort more than ever. 8 years ago our family started the process of adopting two older children out of foster care. It's been the most challenging, difficult, and discouraging season of my life. I'm overwhelmingly grateful for my foundation with the Lord. It has not waivered. My unofficial theme have become, 'Is it a Psalm 143 day? Or, is it a Psalm 144 day?' These two chapters, alongside many others, have been my reminder that some days are really difficult and other days are joyful and enjoyable. God is not surprised by this. He understands all the aspects of our lives. It is a blessing to be able to rely on His steadfast words in all seasons.
As a teacher there are times when I get discouraged when the students do not seem to understand the lessons or show growth. But I always turn to the word of God that reminds me that His word will not return to Him void. Isaiah 55:11. This verse reminds me that God is always at work even when I cannot see it. It does not mean that nothing is happening. This term, one of the most challenging student in my classroom, on the last week of school, came to me and apologised for the way he was behaving in class during the year. That was a God moment.
God's word impacted me so much! I have known and loved Jesus all my life but I grew and faced adversities, I began looking into other resources like self-help books and influential life coaches to seek clarification or guidance on how to manage my life. I surrendered and went back to the bible and everything in my life balanced out proving that the word of God is the only way!
God lead me to a Christian school, having taught in public schools up to this point.
